This page has been created to share me and my interests with the world whether it likes it or not. Well that's a bit of lie really, I only did this because I was bored and so I would have a start page of my own with all the links I want on it. However it seems that people keep stumbling across this corner of the net, bet they don't come back. So anyway, hello to any random visitors. Now go away and find something more interesting to look at. Oh and a random wave to any members of the Cambridge Assassins Society, apparently you lot have a link to this site...

Our latest arrival, Spike the kitten looking a little scary courtesy of the dodgy flash on the digicam.

Anyway on with the obligatory bits.

About Me
I am a 23 year old male currently living in the basement of my parents house. I graduated from the University of Durham in July 2000 with a BSc in Geology. After a few months of sitting around pissed off with life I got myself a job, so I am now employed, paying rent to my parents and pissed off with life. Well it's something to do. I work for Lark Technologies in their gene sequencing lab in Saffron Walden. I'm not going to try to explain what I do because it would take ages and be dull, but I don't create genetically modified dinosaurs or anything exciting like that. Although we do now have an inflatable dinosaur lurking in our front office thanks to CLP.
Oh, and I suppose you could mail me if you have nothing better to do.

Links
Yes this is pretty much just my bookmarks but hey I like them so you might too.

Generally Useful Sites.

Google. A search engine that I use.

Ebay. An auction site that I browse frequently and buy things from quite often. The UK area of an international site.
Amazon. Sells books, videos, DVDs and CDs. Some bargains as long as you remember delivery charges etc.

BBC. The site I use for news and sport. Also has radio and TV listings, program related information and sites.

Railtrack's site has timetables and up to date information on what bits of track they are ripping up this week.
London Underground Map. Useful for journey planning and also for checking if anyone is cheating in games of Mornington Crescent.

Silly Sites.

Furious George. An internet game where you take on the role of a cute little money on a homicidal rampage across the USA racking up points as you rack up crimes. No graphic pictures, just amusement and some interesting ideas...

Bun - bun lights candlesSluggy Freelance. An internet comic featuring a web designer, his alien secretary, his psychotic talking rabbit, his mad inventor best friend and others. Respect the comic, for is it not nifty? Take the time to read through it all from the start, if you laugh lots then you have a similar sense of humour to me, commiserations.

The Darwin Awards. A site celebrating the stupidity of people who kill or mutilate themselves for the good of the human race. The idea being that their removal from the gene pool is natural selection in action promoting Darwinian evoloution.

The L-Space Web. An online resourse for everything relating to the author Terry Pratchett and especially his Discworld series of books. The name is a reference to the concept of all libraries everywhere being linked the dimension of L-Space. I'm not going to try to explain any further here, suffice to say I think his books are good enough for me to actually buy copies rather than just use the local library like the cheapskate I am.

Sites of Personal Interest.

Durge. This is a shortened form of dur.general. A newsgroup internal to Durham University. This is the site, of the group, of the kazoo playing boys from the Gate. I know most of these people, and spend too much time talking to them on IRC. I even see some of them occaisionally in real life!

Durham University Science Fiction and Fantasy Society. As a former member I know the reprobates that run this society and went drinking with them quite a lot in my last year.

Durham University Assassins Society. Similar to above and the reason for my collection of toy guns.

Game On The games shop in Saffron Walden where my brother works. He has asked for a link to it here and I'm nice enough to oblige. It has a forum where members of staff insult each other and customers and even talk about Computer games or Games Workshop stuff sometimes.
