Welcome.
This is a website dedicated to the
memoirs of my late grandmother, Alida Bijl-Lursen. I am Jenny
Radcliffe, and it is my privilege to have been granted by my
grandfather, Alida's widower, permission to publish these memoirs on
the web.

It is with great regret that I announce the death
on the 13th July 2004 of my grandfather, Prof. Dirk Bijl,
peacefully, in St Luke's Hospital Bradford, following a short
illness. His funeral will take place on the 21st July 2004,
consisting of a service at 1pm at the Heaton St Andrew's United Reform
Church in Bradford and followed by a family only burial at the
Woodland Site at Thornton Cemetary at 2:45.
Family flowers only; donations in lieu to Amnesty
International. |
This page should serve as an index
to this site, since for ease of reading I have split the memoirs into
several sections. Should you be rambling around and find yourself
confused as to where you have been, are, or want to go, the logo at
the top should act as a link back to this index page.
- An Introduction from me about the whys and
wherefores of my looking after this site, and how it came into
being
- An Introduction from Alida, in which she
describes how the Occupation occcured and something of her life at the
